If you’ve visited our Broadmoor neighborhoods during a stay at the five-star Broadmoor Hotel & Resort, you are probably familiar with the property’s vibrant natural setting.  But what is it like to live here year-round?

Broadmoor Resort Community homeowners association President Reg McIntyre and his wife, Nancy, purchased their home overlooking the city 12 years ago.  They enjoy 24/7 gated security and magnificent views as well as proximity to numerous dining, entertainment and shopping options at The Broadmoor.  Raised in Philadelphia, the couple retired to the area from Florida.  They remain enthusiastic about their choice.

“It works great for us here,” he says, adding that the nice thing about life in the Resort is that even in the winter, it may rain or snow but the next day the sun comes out.  Back East, the weather is often “dark, cold and gray, he recalls, adding that “the snow never seems to melt.”

During spring and summer the region’s moderate weather is great for golf, tennis, hiking, biking, fishing and other outdoor adventures.  In the fall, warm days and cool nights are highlighted by golden aspen and vivid red scrub oak.  As winter approaches, residents know they are just a few hours’ drive from beautiful mountain ski communities and snow-capped peaks.  Once spring arrives, the BRC’s landscape crew is out in force.  “They make sure our neighborhoods are well-maintained year-round,” he says.

Some of Reg’s neighbors live out of state and purchased properties as vacation or second homes, but for those who live here all year, he says the advantages are many.  The Broadmoor Resort, for example, offers 20 miles of maintained trails.  Native wildlife includes wild turkey, deer and fox.  “Many folks here in the BRC have also joined the Broadmoor Golf Club,” he explains. “It’s a great place to see friends at club mixers, in the Grill – or during a workout at the fitness center and spa.”
